i think this is in order for tomorrow...


We took this picture back in February on an rather warm day at Overton Park.  I hope that tomorrow will provide park time at some point. Bring on the 75 degree weather!  (I was not a fan of the snow.)

We're also planning a trip to Easy Way for some veggie shopping tomorrow. 

Yesterday was a good day: mini choir practice and almond butter with Liz, errands, picking up James and Paul in the afternoon, Presanctified Liturgy at night.  Overall very nice.

Today I'm hanging out with my sick little sister, she has an awful cough.  For lunch I was inspired by a conversation with Liz to make a super healthy smoothie for lunch.  

I blended frozen strawberries and blueberries with some cranberry juice and a banana.  The best part, I threw in a few handfuls of spinach and some ground flax seeds!  I even had a handful of almonds on the side.  I'm feeling pretty healthy right about now.  

Tonight we'll be going to church again.  Talk to you later.

i feel so special to mentioned in two posts in a row! i'm glad the smoothie was successful. it's one of my favorite lunch/after work out treats!

good grief! how can you eat only a smoothie for lunch? hmmm- maybe I'll try this. I do have spinach...

take the whole blender:

fill it up close to the top with baby spinach
cut up an apple and add, pushing down the spinach as you go
add a handful of baby carrots
add some frozen or fresh blueberries
add a handful of grapes
top with a banana and a scoop of ground flax
I like to add cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, turmeric (it's really good for you), a couple dashes of angostura bitters (miracle cure), and sometimes even a dash of cayenne.

Fill it up with water and blend until it will blend no more.

This gives you two large glass fulls, which is enough to keep you full and get you re-hydrated in the morning.

You can add whatever fruit you like, and can cut down on the spinach if the thought makes you squeamish. I had to build up to the amount I use, but it's become my favorite part.

The more spinach you use, the more vibrantly green it will be. The smell is vaguely reminiscent of fresh cut grass. You will come to like this.

If you use enough grapes, there's no need for additional sweeteners, though honey and real maple syrup would be the healthiest choices.

Even when I'm not eating very healthy otherwise, one of these for breakfast keeps me feeling great.

i'm a little bit in shock that this spinach concoction comes straight from the kitchen of the camerons! i don't know whether to say YUCK or go try it, but i'm considering the latter. smoothies have definitely been one of my pregnancy cravings, but spinach??? could i add ice cream to make it edible?!

ok, so i don't put all the same things john does. the grapes,apples and spices are a little strange to me. spinach, baby carrots, an orange, a banana, a huge amount of frozen blueberries and frozen strawberries.

the frozen fruit makes it thick like a milkshake without having to add ice or any kind of dairy product.
